Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined his counterparts in Oregon and Washington in approving a series of recommendations for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The recommendations were developed by the three states over the past year. Energy conservation and the use of renewable energy is at the forefront of those recommendations.

In an effort to help private, state and federal organizations make the financial investment required to conserve energy or produce power on-site, the State of California, through the PUC and local utility providers, are offering substantial cash incentives. As much as 50% of the project cost can be paid for from incentives.
The State of California as well as the federal government has adopted legislation that allows for organizations to fast track their purchasing requirments as well as provide those organizations much latitude to negotiate energy savings contracts (California Code 4217.10).
Other organizations, like the Green Power Partnership, Million Solar Roofs, Rebuild America and many others are also promoting energy conservation and more specifically the use of renewable energy.
The goal of the Green Power Partnership is to facilitate the growth of the green power market by lowering the cost and increasing the value of green power. A strong green power market will support new, clean technologies that will reduce the environmental impact of electricity generation.
